McGill University Department of Plant Science

Welcome to the Strömvik lab website!

Our lab combines bioinformatics and cellular/molecular biology approaches to explore and elucidate plant promoters and plant gene expression on a global scale. Our research focuses on plant cell/tissue specific gene expression in soybean and other plant species.

Our wet lab is fully equiped for molecular biology, microbiology and for laser cature microdissection (LCM). Our dry lab features a hardware-accelerated DeCypher® system and a high-performance computing cluster.

We also develop and provide the plant research community with online tools and databases. The Seeder suite of tools is designed for the sequence analysis of plant promoters and discriminative motif discovery. The DDOPM database is a comprehensive database of conserved motifs in promoters of dicotyledonous orthologous gene promoters. The SoyXpress database is designed for exploring the soybean transcriptome.
